The Truth About Master Resell Rights

Lately, I have been seeing a lot of conversation around products that come with Master Resell Rights, and it’s usually pretty negative. Personally, I do not understand the hate and the judgement around it. If it weren’t for a product that came with Master Resell Rights, I would probably still be completely confused about how to promote and scale an online business.

In today’s post, I will be giving all of the tea surrounding the MRR chatter. Debunking some myths and even listing a few cons as well, because just like any business model or product out there, EVERYTHING comes with risks and cons.

First, What ARE Master Resell Rights?

A product containing Master Resell Rights is a product that is created by somebody and sold to other people who can then resell that same product to other people as many times as they want for 100% profit. The only “downside” to these products is that you cannot alter them in any way to make it original or to add any other information. The product remains “as is”.

For example, I purchased a product called the Passive Daily Pay Blueprint for a price of $300. Now, I can sell that exact same product for the exact same price to as many people that are willing to buy from me. And then they can turn around and do the same thing and so on. We just can’t make any alterations to it.

MYTH 1: The Market is Saturated

Listen, if you talk to any nay sayers about any kind of business model in the digital space, one of the very first things that they will say is that the market is saturated. Listen, the only reason it appears that way is because of what is being shown to those people in their algorithm. When you’re following a lot of other creators in a similar field, or who are promoting the same product, all the algorithm is going to show is content similar to that. So yeah, it can be extremely discouraging when that is all you see on your feed.

You need to remember that there are just over 8 BILLION people on this planet. And you can sell your products to any of them.

MYTH 2: It’s a Pyramid Scheme

Anybody who has ever spoken these words doesn’t understand what a pyramid scheme actually entails. A pyramid scheme’s main focus is just recruiting more people under you so that you can earn profit from them. MLMs have often been associated with this in the way that they also make profit by signing people up under them, but their main focus is actually selling a product/service.

When I first began my digital marketing journey in 2018, I started with Beachbody coaching. Yes, I am very guilty of sending a large amount of “hey girl” messages just hoping I’d get a bite. Their business model used to be multi level marketing (they recently switched to an affiliate model). I signed up under somebody, she signed up under someone who signed up under someone else and everyone ends up profiting off of everyone. You would get profit from your downline coaches profits as well as the products sold to your own clients.

With Master Resell Rights, the only money that is made off of you, is your initial investment in the product. After that, every sale you make is 100% yours to keep. No uplines. No downlines. No commissions.

The next topic is something I heard from a creator I actually really respect, but she and I have very different opinions on this.

MYTH 3: People Won’t Buy a Product From you that you Didn’t Create

Let me ask you something….how many times have you bought something based on somebody else’s opinion? Whether it was about clothes, electronics, appliances, decor, etc. There are a large number of creators out there who recommend their favorite products, and then people will go and buy those same products based on the recommendation.

It’s the same concept for MRR. I may not have created the Passive Daily Pay Blueprint, but I did purchase it, go through the step-by-step learning process, applied what I learned, and ended up a lot more knowledgeable about digital marketing than I ever had been before. So now, I RECOMMEND the product to other people who want to learn more about digital marketing, and if someone buys, I get to make 100% profit.

It’s no different than a creator promoting products from Amazon and then making a profit from sales. Well, actually, there is a difference. Selling products for Amazon only gets you a percentage of the profit. Selling MRR products gets you ALL OF IT.

You’re not selling your creation. You’re selling what you’ve learned! As long as there is genuine belief and passion behind your message, people will buy from you.

I know I said earlier that I would get into the cons of MRR, but there’s really only one (in my opinion) and I already mentioned it earlier. But, I suppose I’ll expand a little bit more.

The Only Con: You Cannot Make ANY Changes to the Product

Depending on the terms of service in the product, you may be able to make little cosmetic changes that don’t take away from the product itself, but as far as trying to make changes to the actual content, huge no-no. And honestly, I wouldn’t even consider this a con. An annoyance maybe? But, not a con.

One thing I will say is that I do believe that MRR products should NOT be your only source of income online. Especially if you only have one. I’ve used my product as an “earn while you learn” situation. Now that I have learned so much more about how to generate different streams of online income, I am now creating my own products. Right now, I’m focusing mostly on lower priced and free products, like these customizable Instagram templates, that will eventually feed into a higher ticket item. And then I still have the MRR product to sell as well.

Becoming an online business owner can be very daunting when you start out, and everything can be super overwhelming. Having a done-for-you product that you can learn from, build a business from, and earn money from simplifies the whole process!
