How I Got my Groove Back in Digital Marketing

Let me just say that my journey in digital marketing has not been an easy one. I know we get on YouTube or Instagram and see other people just absolutely killing it by making an income just from showing up online. It can be really discouraging to think that you could stand out amongst the rest.

It’s also really easy to fall into niches or marketing methods that don’t align with who you are or what you’re comfortable with.

It’s also really easy to start something and then promptly give up because your first video/post doesn’t get a huge audience right off the bat.

The fact of the matter is digital marketing is a very bumpy road with various traffic patterns and speed limits.

Sometimes things go very well, sometimes they go terribly, and sometimes they reach a steady pace.

The biggest problem that most people face, though, is just knowing how to even get started. Sure, you want to promote Amazon products on Instagram….but what goes into all of that…exactly?

Well, that’s what this blog post is all about. The digital marketing program that made it all fall into place for me. The program that answered all of the long burning questions that anyone with zero marketing skills would be asking.

How my Journey First Started…

In 2018, I was scrolling Instagram one day, while I was in the middle of an ugly divorce and also navigating the life of co-parenting, AND managing a new relationship.(We’re married now) I came across an ad from a cute blonde girl offering me the chance to earn money from home while promoting at-home workout programs and other products. Yes, it was Beachbody. And yes, it was an MLM. It was a legit business. But, the model was absolutely an MLM.

It was all about posting every day clips of workouts and hitting up random people in their DMs with super annoying “ Hey Girl” messages. I enjoyed the workouts, the nutrition supplements, and even the community of other coaches. My upline was a doll, and someone I still stay in touch with. But, that way of marketing wasn’t really my thing.

Sure, now that I’ve learned what I’ve learned, I absolutely could have implemented other methods to actually see success in that business aside from bothering strangers, but what’s done is done.

Beachbody has actually changed their business model to an affiliate program as of the end of 2024. It unfortunately had a very large negative impact on a lot of coaches who had been in the business for several years. But, I personally think it’s a better way of doing business. I hated the idea of someone else profiting off of my efforts and vice versa.

Another thing I hated was how everything had to be handled manually. For example, say somebody was interested in becoming a coach. I would first need to get their email address. Then, I would need to email them an application form (which I created myself) and then wait for them to send it back. If they send it back, I then have to input their information into my back office and then send them a link to purchase their first fitness pack and their coach office resources.

I didn’t know about a little thing called automations.

How the Blueprint paved the way to Passive Income

After three years of no success (business wise, fitness wise, I was great) I broke up with Beachbody. Several months later, I tried to get into blogging. I found a wonderful course by a fantastic creator by the name of Jennie Leigh! You can check out her website here.

She gave some very helpful tips on creating a website from scratch and creating wonderful brand kits in Canva. But, when she got to the topic of building an email list to promote offers and paid products, I immediately hit the brakes.

I hadn’t even thought about promoting products. I just wanted to create a fun space to talk about life, but how was that going to make money?

That’s when the Blueprint filled in all of the gaps. In May of 2024, I was in a very rough spot, financially. I had left my job of 4 years to attempt a career in Life Insurance sales. That didn’t work out because it turns out, I’m not very good at cold calling. Just like the DMing. Because I was fully commission based, I was losing more money than I was making by investing in leads, softphone supplies, and CRM software.

My husband and I were extremely behind on bills and had to get help from friends and family to pay our rent. It was absolutely awful. While I looked for an actual job, I still explored work from home options because I had become so accustomed to being home with my kids and I didn’t want to lose that. A friend of mine told me about a digital marketing program that she had tried and said it did wonderful things for her and her family. I used some of the small bit of resources I had left to take a chance on myself and invest in something that could really help me get to where I wanted to go.

Earning While Learning

As soon as you begin the program, you start learning everything you need to know about starting an online business from scratch. What the point of it all is, what your purpose is and who it is that you are trying to help. Then you start getting into the set up phase. Setting up your website, sales funnels, email list, connecting a domain, etc. From there you begin learning marketing strategies for various forms of social media. You gain access to a digital community with a very generous amount of resources to help you grow and succeed!

It’s About More Than Just Reselling a Course

There is a lot of uproar in the digital world when it comes to MRR products. Some people say it’s an over-saturated market because it’s just a bunch of people reselling the same product over and over again. The thing is, this course is supposed to help you branch out and learn the skills to create and market your own product.

Yes, you can start by promoting the course, and earning 100% profit, just to get your foot in the door, improve your content creating skills, and your social media marketing skills. This one product should not be your be-all-end-all. If anything, it’s your origin story.

What this Program has Done for me

It has been several months since I first invested in the program. I will admit it’s been a rough go as I still struggled with a lot of self confidence issues for a while and I was putting too much pressure to make perfect content. I actually ended up making a lot of scripted videos that sounded very similar to what other people were doing and I didn’t want to be in-authentic. I decided to give blogging another shot. With the program, I also learned how to add a blog to my sales page to help attract my audience as well.

That has been where Pinterest has come a lot into play. I have been faithfully using Pinterest since 2015 and I know very well that it is still a very active platform. The great thing about Pinterest is that they will still show posts from several years ago as long as it fits into what someone is searching for. So you can have really old posts still driving traffic to your page and potentially getting you more customers/email list subscribers.

I am happy to report that I have been steadily keeping up with my blog for a solid month now and I am very proud of that progress. I am not yet “killing it” in digital marketing. I have not earned 6-figures, and I’m not living a life of freedom…yet. I’m still building. I have good days and bad. Good weeks and weeks where I rarely post anything on social media. This week actually ended up being one of those weeks due to me getting food poisoning and basically being completely out of commission for a full day. Two days if you count the next day of recovering and trying to eat again.

I’m actually amazed I wrote a blog post as detailed as this one to be completely honest, but that’s probably because my husband is staying at a friend’s tonight and I have a lot of time to focus on my business. I think my fellow moms and wives can agree that any amount of spare time to focus on yourself and your needs, is time that should not be wasted.

In Closing…

I know there are so many programs and people offering advice out there, and I’m not going to discredit anyone! I’m not here to knock other creators. We’re all just trying to make our mark in this world. I am just telling you that this program was an absolute game changer for me and I will continue to recommend it to absolute beginners until I have the time and focus to create something that tops it!
